How 10naija works

In short: rates are public market data refreshed hourly; news is editorially ranked from reputable Nigerian outlets; the tax calculator applies progressive PAYE bands from the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 (effective January 2026).

Exchange rates

10naija's NGN reference rates are aggregated from public market data via our rate pipeline. We publish a snapshot per currency per hour and compute percent change against the previous published snapshot. These are reference rates — banks, BDCs and fintech apps apply their own spreads.

News ranking

Stories are collected from a curated list of Nigerian and international business sources, deduplicated, and ranked by editorial relevance to Nigerian individuals and SMEs (market impact, policy weight, audience interest). The final Top 10 is human-reviewed before publication each morning.

PAYE calculator

For 2026 we apply the progressive bands from the Nigeria Tax Act 2025 (effective January 2026). For 2025 we apply the prior PITA bands. The calculator returns taxable income, total tax, effective rate, monthly take-home and a band-by-band breakdown. Pension, NHF and other reliefs are not deducted by default.

AI usage

AI assists with summarisation, ranking and drafting. All published news, training material and methodology pages are reviewed by an editor.
